And before we wander down this rabbit hole and to gain some context to my musing ….I suggest you read the Stephen King book Shawshank Redemption or watch the movie.
Marriage is what I’m talking about and yes most of us have done it at least once.
The usual process for a male is around 30 he starts to think about settling down and it’s a time when he wants to buy property,get a better paid job,marry and have babies so between 30-38 he’s now in the danger zone ripe for plucking by hungry females who also are transitioning into make baby mode.It’s biology at its best wrecking havoc on us hapless humans.
Now let’s talk about the SEX yes that usually gets your attention
Sex is in the top 5 reasons for unhappiness in a marriage and I personally think it tops the list!
When does the problem start?Most people wrongly assume many years down the track of marriage but in my experience this is not the case.
The rot starts early but we tend to ignore the danger signs or red flags ( such as avoiding sex,avoiding cuddling or kissing,impromptu sex,spooning in bed,engineering situations to avoid sexual contact,making sex an event,using sex as a weapon to punish or reward).
Why?
Well it’s mostly it’s to do with the fact that we have developed intellect superior to most other mammals,with our large brain came complex social behaviour and emotions such as love.
Does our superior intelligence make us smarter?sadly no it just makes life a whole lot more complicated.
So where am I going with this?
If you are going to stay married for whatever the reason your superior intellect can come up with (children,property,possessions,social status,love,money) you need to come up with creative ways of dealing with the NO SEX and deal with it in a way that makes you happy.
Happiness is a feeling or a sense of well being ,joy or contentment and if you are not getting that in your marriage you need to work on ways to make the self imposed prison term bearable.
