WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS…
I wanted to move to London last year, but COVID-19 took care of that.
After touring Australia for 3 months, I found myself in balmy Queensland….and decided I rather liked the humidity and didn’t want to return to mandatory masks.

I’d intended to move up to Brisbane on January 5, but when Melbourne acquired three new cases of COVID-19 on December 30, I had to move quickly.
After removing myself from a puddle of utter despair, I headed to Bunnings for more packing boxes, packed up my apartment in 48 hours, and flew out on January 1.
One week later, fate decided to play the cruellest joke of them all: Brisbane went into its own lockdown.
As I’m writing, we’re about to be released at 6pm.
WHY DID I MOVE FROM MELBOURNE TO BRISBANE?
I was born by the beaches of Sydney, but I’ve always felt more European than Australian.
And seeing as I have a British passport, the great UK pilgrimage just made sense.
Why not try a stint in the mother country while I’m young and unattached?
All of my plans were shelved when London became one of the deadliest cities for COVID.
And I did the exact opposite, and moved somewhere vastly different from London.
So why Brisbane?
The people are so friendly. My god, they are just the chattiest bunch you’ll ever meet.
From people at the bus stop to whoever is serving me at IGA, the people here just love a good yarn.
THE WEATHER
I was born to bikini. Quite frankly, I’m quite looking forward to hanging up my coats and living in summer attire for the foreseeable future.
THAT EASY-GOING AUSSIE CHARM
