A December to Remember: Staying Grounded at Home
This December, I’m doing things a little differently—staying grounded in my home city, Perth. Normally, December would see me and my traveling circus fking and sucking the country away however this year we are staying on home turf.
I’m not the most festive person. The chaos, the stress over a single day, the societal pressure to buy gifts just because “it’s what you’re supposed to do” — none of that resonates with me. The grinch in me believes its a system set in place to fuel the mechanics of consumerism. Okay okay I wont get you guys soft with my beliefs about the matrix. That said, gents, don’t get it twisted—I still absolutely LOVE the thoughtful gifts you spoil me with.
For me, the magic of Christmas lies elsewhere. It’s in the love and gratitude that I enjoy during this season. It’s the joy people feel from being on holiday and away from the working grind. From being present. You can see it by walking down the street or with your loved ones or Oscar my cat when his eating lobster on Christmas Day lol
I’ll be in Singapore next week and VERY excited for the city Christmas lights!! No one does it like Singapore. I purposely timed this trip for their magical Christmas lights.
Perth you have me and the travelling circus for Christmas, excited for the sunshine and beaches- what Perth does best.
