escort diary® of Jessica Midori: Travel Diary: Cornwall, UK
Moody skies, white whipped seas, gentle drizzle & thick morning fog. No wonder so many gothic horrors were written here!
Embarked on my long awaited pilgrimage to Cornwall UK to meet my literary hero, Carmen Maria Machado. Carmen lead us through an exhilarating close reading of ‘Rebecca’ written by British 20th century novelist Daphne Du Maurier (a Cornwall native.)
I made so many new friends with whom I felt an instant soul connection. We lounged around the fireplace speaking feverishly about our favourite books, drank Old Fashions, indulged in crème brûlée & explored the town’s bookshops.
Each day we hiked for hours over sprawling hills & through dense tunnels of trees. Our bodies & minds were in optimal shape by the week’s end.
I feel nostalgic already, thinking of those precious days spent in Cornwall. I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
