I have a confession to make…
I’m absolutely terrible at sitting still.
Give me a free weekend and suddenly I’m checking flights, looking at hotels, finding a new restaurant I need to try, or wondering how quickly I could pack a bag and disappear somewhere new.
I’ve always been this way.
I love movement, whether that means swimming, keeping fit, dancing until far too late, wandering through a city I’ve never seen before, or slipping into a beautiful dress because an ordinary evening suddenly deserves to become something more interesting.
Routine has never really suited me.
I like stories. Adventures. Last-minute decisions. The little “why not?” moments that somehow become your favourite memories.
It’s probably why travel has such a hold on me. There’s something about waking up somewhere unfamiliar with an entire day ahead of you. No routine, no expectations — just the freedom to decide what happens next.
And I think that same side of me comes out when I’m with someone.
I love a date that has room to breathe.
Dinner that turns into another drink because neither of us is ready to leave.
A conversation that completely distracts us from whatever we were supposed to be doing.
A spontaneous change of plans.
Or my personal favourite…
“Pack a bag, Giselle.”
Dangerous words to say to a girl like me.
Because I probably already have a destination in mind.
There’s something incredibly attractive about a gentleman who can occasionally forget the schedule, put his phone away and simply enjoy where the evening takes us.
We can dress up and order champagne somewhere beautiful.
We can escape for the weekend.
We can explore a city neither of us knows.
Or we can close the hotel door and decide the outside world can survive without us for a while.
I think the best memories rarely come from perfectly following the plan anyway.
They happen somewhere in between.
And perhaps that’s my favourite kind of luxury — having enough freedom, time and good company to ask…
What should we do next?
So yes, I’m a girl who can’t sit still.
But with the right company?
You might convince me to stay in one place for a little while.
