What’s in a Name?
“What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;”
- William Shakesepare, ‘Romeo and Juliet’
I feel quite fancy starting this blog with a couple of lines of Shakespeare. You can be assured that when I start quoting classic literature, I’m in full philosophical mode!
Today I’m writing about something fairly practical though – my name.
If you have been a part of this industry for very long at all, you’ll be aware that most of us don’t use our ‘real life’ names when we do our escorting work. My own had a very mundane beginning: it was the name a parlour receptionist suggested when I called up for the first time, after hearing I had black hair and tattoos. Since then it has definitely stuck, and I feel that I ‘own’ it more than my legal one (at least I got to pick it).
An escort name can say so much. It can be otherworldly, such as Tantra or Liliana or Divine. It can be classy and expensive: Vivienne, Gabriella, Sofia. It can be raunchy: Scarlett or Honey. My favourite are the girl-next-door ones: Alex, Megan, Susie, Riley. These are all ladies on Scarlet Blue…it’s worth looking through the profiles in all the states just to see all the sexy, exotic names we’ve chosen for ourselves!
I value my name, and it’s a big part of my persona. Sometimes guys view me with suspicion, making comments that it’s not my ‘real name’ or asking to guess what my ‘real name’ is. Not only are these remarks invasive and disruptive, they are also irrelevant. My working name is the perfect choice for the part of me I bring out when I’m getting sexy with my clients. It might not be ALL of me, but it’s a genuine part of me all the same.
As I’ve grown and changed over the past few years, I feel like it’s time to update myself to reflect the direction I’ve travelled in. I started out as a fetish escort with short black hair, piercings, Goth boots and lots of attitude. Nowadays I’ve mellowed out a bit and I’m more of a girly gym-junkie, with brown-blonde wavy hair and a taste for nice stilettos. I still have the attitude though…which is probably for the best as I’m often told it’s what clients value the most!
Accordingly, I’m changing my name to reflect what’s changed about me – I’m Georgie Wolf, the intelligent, engaging girl-next-door who keeps a pair of handcuffs in her bedside drawer.
I know it’s hard for clients when we change names, because it reminds them that the experiences they have with us are not the whole story of ourselves. I’d like to look at it a different way. I’m choosing to show my lovers a part of myself that doesn’t get to see the light of day very often. It’s quirky, and feminine, and sexy. This part of me needs to be seen by the right people, those who will treasure her and let her grow into something amazing. This part of me is Georgie. I hope you decide to meet her some time soon.
