Body image – past and present
The ‘ideal’ womanly shape according to artists of centuries gone by was ‘voluptuous’- a curvy statuesque Goddess. Big thighs, large bouncy breasts and illuminous skin to cover these. In the art world, we still classify these as ‘Rubenesque’ types after the artist Peter Paul Reubens.
Today’s ‘ideal’ woman is a combination of all these features, but so much more. Large, small, curvy, straight, big breasts, small breasts, wobbly big bottoms or tight, small round bottoms – it doesn’t matter. Embellish, accentuate and enhance what you have – don’t despair about what you can’t have. Learn to love you, and others will too. Have your own style and confidence and definitely do not follow the ‘fashionistas.’ Remember that what may look absolutely stunning on another woman may not necessarily suit you.
Today’s ‘ideal woman’ as discussed earlier is a combination of many different features, body types and characteristics. It would certainly be a boring world if everybody looked the same.
Having said that, all women do possess one inherited feature. Large or small, we encapsulate a piece of magic within that entices, titillates and fascinates the opposite sex. Indeed, beauty and body shape is in the eye of the beholder.
