Hong Kong for the Weekend of the Full Moon Festival
Never have I ever, checked the calendar for the Asian festivals and holidays - it seems I strike hot though.
Yesterday I arrived early on the peak of festivities here in Hong Kong.
Were streets lined with smiling protestors, “yes”, but they were friendly.
There were dancing dragon tails and drummers in tribes in the Wan Chai district too.
Hong Kong is thriving, I just love this vibe.
I attempted a short sight seeing excursion late night between arrangements, first to the flower markets
Then to the Gold Fish Markets.
In hope I could take time to smell the roses and catch a google eyed fishy pouting right back at me, I was so excited to hear of this attraction).
I was not in luck ....the moon festival for welcoming Autumn was also a day for less retail action around town.
Keeping this in mind next time I will plan some morning hikes next time I come across a festival or public holiday in Hong Kong, there are so many to choose from here.
The dragons run for one, I’m yet to take this challenge on.
All was not lost, as I was near many fashion retailers.
I took the opportunity to collect a few fun items to help motivate my inner fitness queen - see the images, I wasn’t the luckiest for size and colour options were minimal.
I am trying my hardest to fit into all Asian culture - my new threads are the complete mismatched colour combo and comical for my where’s Wally adventures about town (or so I thought).
As always I kept myself entertained, whilst travelling solo.
The excitement escalates today as my good time girl CeCe Regin arrives for the evening.
I’m already collecting restaurants to share with her here.
I hope to see a few more fun familiar faces and meet some new ones too before my flight tomorrow.
Now - it’s gym between appointments and lectures for me
