escort diary® of Emi Laurentis: The Moment Before
Before I meet someone new, I always have this little moment with myself.
I’m getting ready, usually with music on, standing in front of the mirror deciding what version of myself I feel like being that night. Hair up or down? This dress or the other one? Which perfume feels like me tonight?
And while I’m doing all of this, I think.
Who am I getting ready for?
It’s funny because I know almost nothing about the person I’m about to meet, yet I’m carefully preparing myself for him.
Sometimes I’m excited. Sometimes I’m nervous. Sometimes I’m completely relaxed. And sometimes, for no reason at all, I have a feeling that the evening will be different.
I look at myself in the mirror before leaving and wonder what he will notice first. My eyes? My perfume? The way I speak? Will we click immediately? Will he surprise me?
I think that’s what I love most. I genuinely don’t know.
In a little while, a name on my phone will become a real person. And I’ll become a real person to him too, not just photographs and words on a screen.
Then I put on my heels, take one last look in the mirror, grab my bag and leave.
And every time, there’s that tiny feeling in my stomach.
Okay… let’s see where tonight takes me.
