escort diary® of Emi Laurentis: Between Sydney and Brisbane
I’m writing this somewhere between Sydney and Brisbane.
Another weekday, another flight, another hotel room waiting for me. Sometimes I look around the airport and wonder where everyone is going. Who are they going home to? What are they running from? What are they searching for?
And then I ask myself the same questions.
I travel alone for work. I arrive in a city, check into a room that isn’t mine, unpack my dresses, place my perfume on the bathroom counter, and for a few days, I create a little life there.
It’s strange when I really think about it.
Tonight, I’ll meet someone who was a complete stranger this morning. We’ll talk, laugh, share intimacy, maybe tell each other things we don’t usually say out loud. Then eventually, I’ll pack my suitcase again.
Sometimes I wonder: What am I really travelling towards?
Freedom? Experiences? A different life? Or simply myself?
There is something lonely about travelling alone, but also something incredibly beautiful about belonging nowhere for a little while.
Maybe that’s why I love it.
For a few days, nobody knows me.
And somehow, away from everything familiar, I sometimes feel the most like myself.
