When I first reached out to Lucius, I told myself it was just for fun...curiosity, for something different. But looking back, that wasn't the real reason at all.
Ten months earlier, I'd ended a difficult long-distance relationship where my very generous, open nature had been taken advantage of. It cost me tremendously and changed how I saw the world. I stopped wanting to meet new men and simply shut down that part of my life.
I threw myself into work, professional success, and time with close friends, but avoided new connections. I was lonely, missing simple intimacy and affection, but still too scared to get close to anyone new.
Though I didn't know it at the time, I reached out to Lucius because I wanted to feel safe to be close to someone again without fear of being used or tricked like before.
